What a great day 2AIRFM had at this year's Biggest Morning Tea held on Thursday 23rd May at their studio in Glenreagh Street ! The weather Gods were kind with only a very gentle breeze and a cloudless sky – a most pleasant change from the wind and rain we have been experiencing lately. "We were aiming to raise $1000 this year but exceeded all expectations by collecting over $1600 on the day – what a marvellous day's work and 2AIRFM thanks all who came along and gave so generously to this most worthy cause, The Cancer Council", said the President Michael Black There was plenty of food, both hot finger food and cakes, sandwiches, slices, scones, drinks etc and music (2AIR style) which kept everyone in a happy and relaxed mood. Two cancer survivors, Tony Lawlor from Prostate Cancer Group and Wendy Bennetts from the local Dragons Boating Club told us of the various ways to treat t his insidious sickness and how to help maintain your good health after beating it. All the 2AIRFM helpers did a marvellous job – setting up, cooking and serving food, being the MC for the day, running the raffles and taking requests for Buy a song which was a new initiative. All these requests will be played on the next two Tuesdays between 12 noon and 2.00 pm by Shirley in a couple of special programmes dedicated to the Requests - so listen and you will hear all the favourite songs from our listeners ! Once again 2AIRFM thanks everyone for their attendance and generosity – it was great to see you all and enjoy your company once again. |
